A crown is restoration which fits over the remaining parts of the artificially prepared teeth. Generally, most dentists refer to crown as cap.

Crowns are made of various different materials such as a metal base, porcelain, all-ceramic crowns, glass and gold alloy crowns.

At the time of taking care of the crown, one thing has to be kept in mind that crown would not decay, but definitely the areas around the crown are prone to decay. If proper cleanliness of the mouth is maintained, the crown would definitely remain in its original shape.
