Conservative & Endodontic Treatments Focused on Preservation of Teeth!
“It is important to preserve what already exists than to replace what is missing”

The conservative and endodontic treatments provided at Modi’s Dental & Prosthodontic Clinic are focused in only one direction and that is preservation of teeth in the mouth. We would like to emphasize that conservative dentistry is concerned with only one basic thing and that is to conserve teeth in your mouth. Conservative dentistry involves the practice of operative dentistry and endodontics.
Treatments Included In Conservative & Endodontic Treatment at Modi Dental &   Prosthodontic Clinic

We at Modi Dental & Prosthodontic Clinic make use of various procedures and techniques that play a vital in restoring the functionality and appearance of your teeth. Our team makes sure that at no point of time, loss of healthy tissue is carried out.

The surgeries or treatments that form a part of this conservative and endodontic treatment are root canal treatment (RCT) and surgical endodontics, bleaching and proper management of unhealthy teeth.

  Root Canal Treatment
The goals of root canal treatment are to save the tooth and allow it to be retained in the mouth for many years in a state of health, function, and comfort. Root canal treatment is directed towards removing diseased tissue from the inside of the tooth and subsequently filling and sealing the root canal space in order to minimize the possibility of future re-infection.

  Common Symptoms requiring an RCT:
• Severe tooth pain, typically relieved by cold water and increases with the intake of hot liquids.
• Pain worsens when you lie down and reduces when you sit up.
• Pain stays for a long time after consuming cold things.
• Swelling around the tooth.
• Constant tooth pain
• Pain when chewing.
• Tooth pain referred to head and ears as well.
• Tooth sensitivity on consuming sweets.
If you have any of the above stated symptoms, it would be advisable that you visit your dentist, since he is the best person to judge whether you have a root canal disease or not, as some of these symptoms may be due to other problems as well.
USE OF LASER IN ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
Root canal treatment at Modi’s Dental & Prosthodontic Clinic is currently performed using a combination of hand and rotary instruments to remove the soft tissue, clean the root canal space and shape the space to receive the obturating material. This makes the treatment very comfortable without any pain or discomfort.
This biocompatible material is then placed with an adhesive cement using special hand instruments to ensure complete sealing of the root canals. These procedures are performed by our expert team of endodontistswith an exceptionally high success rate.We thus use dental lasers to disinfect the canals and to take care of any chronic infections if present.
ADVANTAGES OF USING LASER FOR RCT
Lasers can reduce the quantity of microorganisms

Laser energy can remove the smear layer as well as dentin from the canal walland will melt and resolidify the dentin to close the tubular openings.

The laser also may aid in welding tooth-like materials to the resolidified walls, resulting in denser root canal packing.

They reduce the pain involved
  SINGLE SITTING ROOT CANAL
n many special cases, we perform the entire root canal treatment in a single sitting and that too with an antibiotic coverage for about 2-3 days depending on the type of decay and oral health of the patient. In our single sitting RCT process, only mild pain relievers might be required, but this is not must in all the cases.
main reason why we suggest single sitting RCT is that the patient is in much pain and the decay is moving towards the nerves of the mouth. Apart from these, some other prominent reasons include:
  • An injury has occurred in the teeth and it is at exposure to the nerve
  • A severe sensitivity of the teeth is making it impossible for the patient to consume hot or cold liquid and even food items
  • The patient is suffering from swelling and an infection moving towards the root of the teeth
  Veneers
• Dental veneers utilise a tooth coloured material to cover over the visible portion of the tooth. This is usually a very thin layer which can be compared with a false finger nail, although massively stronger and more technical to place on the tooth
• Veneers rely on special dental adhesive technology for their strength.
• Good colour matching and excellent construction helps veneers achieve a superior, lifelike result that will last for the long term.
  APICOECTOMY
aaAn Apicoectomy, or Root-End Resection, is the removal of the root tip and the surrounding infected tissue of an abscessed tooth. This procedure may be necessary when inflammation and infection persists in the area around the root tip after root canal therapy or root canal retreatment
 DENTAL POST
In some instances, before a crown can be made for a tooth, a dental post must be placed.A post helps to provide a secure anchorage for the dental materials that will be added to the tooth, as part of the foundation for its new crown. A dental post is a rod that is cemented in a tooth's root canal space. Posts are usually only placed in those teeth that have an extensive portion of their natural tooth structure missing.
  TOOTH RESTORATION
• A dental restoration is also called a filling. It is the repair of a damaged or decayed tooth, restoring it back to its normal shape, appearance and function.
• The name of the material that is used to repair a tooth is often the name given to the repair process. "Amalgam Restoration" is an example of the material giving its name to the process.
There are different types of dental restorations which are used in particular situations.
  Amalgam restoration
• An amalgam is an alloy or combination of two or more metals.
• Amalgam fillings (silver fillings) are made up of mercury, powdered silver and tin. They are mixed and packed into cavities in teeth. It hardens slowly, and replaces the missing tooth substance.
• Amalgam fillings are held in place by the shape of the prepared cavity.
• The cavity has to have an undercut to prevent the filling from falling out. The amalgam is then slotted into the cavity.
• It is still commonly used, despite an ongoing debate about mercury toxicity.

Bonding Or Composite Restoration "The superglue of dentistry"
• Composite resin is a plastic tooth-coloured material that is used as a filling. It is also called a white or plastic filling. The process of fusing the filling material to the tooth is called bonding.
• It is placed into the cavity in layers until the tooth is restored to its original form.
• An ultraviolet light is used to harden it, and it can be chewed on immediately after it has been completed. This is an advantage it has over amalgam.
• The filling bonds or sticks to the tooth.
• This characteristic is a major advance for dentistry. There is no longer the need to cut a slot into a tooth to hold a filling in place, as is necessary for an amalgam filling. As a result, less tooth needs to be cut away for a filling.
• We at Simplyteeth have named it "the superglue of dentistry".
• It is hard wearing and is used for repairing front and back teeth.
• Bonding is ideal for front teeth that need cosmetic dentistry.

  Inlay restoration
• An inlay is a solid filling that is cemented into a tooth that has been specially prepared for it.
• To make this restoration, an impression of the prepared cavity is taken using an elastic material. It is sent to the dental technician who will make the inlay.
• Most inlays are made of gold or tooth-coloured porcelain

Onlay restoration
• An onlay is a modified inlay. It is also made by a dental technician, from the impression taken of a prepared cavity.
• It differs from an inlay in that it not only fills the cavity as an inlay does, but also covers and protects the chewing surface of the tooth.
• It is also cemented into place and may be made of gold or tooth-coloured porcelain.
